personal views on gfpr discussions!

Global Forum for Public Relations, an initiative of Brahmakumaris spread across the country and outside celebrated its foundation Day by organizing a discussion ELECTION 09- ROLE OF MEDIA on 21st April 2009 at FAPCCI Auditorium in Hyderabad.
Though the mission of the Brahmakumaris is to spread spirituality and humanity, went well ahead to open up for ethics and values in profession. Be it any profession, the moral values plays important while building our professional outlook. For years now, i have been observing the organization doing a tremendous but yet job at high risk of changing the small world (profession) by adding ethics to values .Kudos!!
In the recent past GFPR has initiated to recognise few professionals for their good work as leaders of their own organizations with a ‘Golden Triangle Award’( Ethics, Spirituality and Professionalism-the triangle that makes a man close to perfect).Perhaps this is the best way to transform the inner thoughts of the person (to be conscious of what he is doing ) from being reckless, selfish, biased to a person of good values, consciousness and spiritually attached –close to perfection. Kudos there again!!
The First person to receive the award was K.Srinivasan, Founder of Prime point foundation, a Tamil speaking, the second was Yogesh joshi, President of ABCI, a Marathi speaking and the third M B Jayaram, chairman Emeritus, PRCI, a Kannada speaking personalities. Just to prove the unbiased attitude of GFPR. There is no caste, creed or colour. These words in praise are for the organization directly.
On 21st April 2009, GFPR organized the discussion “Election 2009-Role of Media”. Speakers from both Print media and Electronic Media were present. Each speaker spoke on each angle that can contribute to election broadcast/telecasting. Speakers opined, media can contribute a lot to a society. It can change opinions because they have access to people and this gives it a lot of strength. This strength can either be used constructively by educating the people or it can be used destructively by misleading the innocent people. Power of the media can transform the whole society, it can also be used as a 'weapon of mass destruction' . But I think the most important use of media is to educate the people about the basic human rights. Education and discipline are key to progress. Media men have access to people and they have an audience. Their programs have an impact and people listen to them. That's why they are more responsible for the betterment of the society. They should work to educate the people, to help the people and to liberate the people and to empower the people. Though Indian Media is one of the redefining factor of democracy, it is yet to do its job in complete. This is because of the political terrorism in the country. Every political party has its own television channel and publication today to boost their own image and brothel the space.

Speakers pointed out that the Media is a business today like any other business. The credit for the change in reporting goes to the owners of the media houses straightaway. They are to be blamed .Journalist are no more free to express their views on issues, people, parties but do what is told to be done. Instead of taking one individual to discuss media must focus on individual issues to discuss . Journlists should not be influenced by any other elements except truth and just truth while reporting.
Two hours or so passed without leaving the audience uneasy and impatient but brought fruitful messages that can linger in the minds of professionals who were present till we met again.

May be i am may be i am not! time and energy required for posting views and news for almost one year was little difficult for me. I seek excuse! In the past days, it is observed that Public Relations Practice has taken a new dimention altogether. Best Public Relations Personnels involve in unethical practices to establish their identity in the community. Real talents hidden and hype showed off. Nothing great has happend in this one year which is worth a note here. Perhaps , thats why i could not pendown much.I am still scepticle about the professionals who can think on their own and do on thier own without getting help from their subordinates. Is it not too late to mention that Public Relations Practitioners are still not tech savvy. I believe, in US, public relations proffession is feminized. do women have opportunity to survive in the industry in our own country? What could be the reason?Thought goes on.......May be Women are not good PR Managers that Men fellow professionals use them as subordinates, cermonial elements. May be they are more professionals than Men Managers that they are not permitted to project themselves in the limlight. If some one can break the ice of the male domain and proove, she is labelled. Nevertheless, a person with right vision and talent can break any number of ices and still climb greater heights. When some thing is denied, you want more of it.
